How to get started with tree-ring analyses using ‘R’?

This tutorial elaborates how to read in tree-ring data, performs simple statistical tests using a categoric sampling design, and introduces simple climate correlation analyses. It can therefore be seen as a basis for the more advanced tutorials. The tutorial is particularly designed for those, who are absolutely new to tree-ring analyses in ‘R’. But also more experienced ‘R’-users may get the one or another inspiration for dealing with tree-ring data in ‘R’. If you have no experience with ‘R’ yet, it is strongly recommended to get familiar with ‘R’ first, e.g. by studying one of the many available R-books or freely available online tutorials.
