This tutorial explains how to create tree age and size classes in dendrochonology using ‘R’. The video explains the difference between a) conventional tree-age classes, b) age-band decomposition, and c) size-class isolation. While the first method simply assigns each tree to one class, the latter two methods assign the specific age or stem diameter to each individual tree ring. For convenience, scripts with ‘ready-to-use’ R-functions and a tutorial R-script are provided at:
